PCOS Awareness Month

September is PCOS Awareness month. PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Nory over at Fierce Makeup and Nails asked if anyone would like to participate in doing a teal mani to show our support for PCOS Awareness month.
Most of you don't know that I was actually tested to see if I had PCOS about a year ago, thankfully I do not but it was very scary to think that it could be a possibility. So, of course this mani was right up my alley and I had to show my support.

This mani ended up turning out better than I had imagined! For each nail there is actually a meaning behind the design.

For the thumb I chose to do the teal ribbon by using some loose glitter I had. The thumb represents the ribbon and the support that this cause has.

For my index finger I have two coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and I stamped using BM-201 with Butter London Slapper (the perfect teal might I add). My middle finger is the same colors but opposite. I chose this stamp because I know that PCOS can be a struggle for women and they may encounter quite a few bumpy roads that are forever changing.

My ring finger is a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and a loose glitter gradient of teal glitter. This represents how hopefully, the women with POCS, their symptoms can slowly fade.

My pinkie finger is a base of Butter London Slapper with a coat of Nicole by OPI Somebody Teal Love. This finger represents the light, or shimmer in this case, at the end of the battle against PCOS.

Not So Blue Mani

Do I have a comeback mani for you!! I was inspired by a nail artist named Chelsea. Chelsea is the blog owner of Get Nailed, and boy is she creative!! I followed one of her videos on YouTube to create this look.

The colors I used are Sephora by OPI Slushied and OPI My Boyfriend Scaled the Walls. For the glitter I  did it a bit different then the way Chelsea uses them, I just used loose hex glitter I bought from Nail Envy.

I hope you love this mani as much as I did, because another variation is coming your way very soon!!

OPI NYC Ballet Collection

Today I have two of the OPI NYC Ballet collection nail polishes. OPI Care To Danse? and OPI Pirouette My Whistle. At first when I saw swatches of these online I didn't care for them too much, when I saw them in person it was a whole other story!

OPI Pirouette My Whistle is a lovely glitter with mini silver glitters and large hex grey-silver glitters. Its really dainty and gorgeous!
I then decided to do a jelly sandwich and layer another coat of Care To Danse? on top.
This collection apparently wasn't supposed to be in stores until April. I found these at the salon in JcPenny's. They retail for $8 but if you purchase 2 or more they are $6 each.

I also used a heart rhinestone from an ebay set which is not pictured.

Nail Mail!

About a week ago there was a deal going on at Plum District. The deal consisted of purchasing a $50 gift card voucher to Bloom.com for only $25. Bloom.com carries many different beauty products, but my interest was the nail polish.
They carry brands such as CND, Essie, Zoya, OPI, and Sally Hansen just to name a few.
I ordered some of the OPI Nicki Minaj colors and a Zoya.

The packaging was done cute and safe for nail polish!

They wrapped two nail polishes per burrito.

Here are the colors I ordered from L to R:
OPI Fly, Did It On 'Em, Metallic 4 Life, Save Me, Super Bass Shatter, and Zoya Neeka

OPI Fly, Did It On Em, M4L, Save Me, Super Bass Shatter

Zoya Neeka

Did you take advantage of this offer? I think overall this offer was really worth it! I only paid $17.50 out of pocket!

UPDATE!!!!
KGB Deals has the same deal going on right now! $50 gift card to Bloom for $25!!! Only 940 deals left out of 2000!!! This deal ends in 3 days!

Day 28 of Untrieds: OPI DS Shimmer

Day 28 of 30 Days of Untrieds
OPI DS Shimmer
OPI DS Shimmer is a gorgeous holo. I used Shimmer over the OPI Here Today..Aragon Tomorrow. I wanted to try and create something that was similar to Glitter Gal Lizard Belly. This ended up being much more holo, and I was super mad that the sun didn't show today!!

Here is Laurie's Untried
OPI Designer De Better and OPI Warm and Fozzie

Day 27 of Untrieds: OPI Here Today..Aragon Tomorrow

Day 27 of 30 Days of Untrieds
OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow
HT..AT is a gorgeous dark green that I received in a swap recently. I really love deep dark colors and have been looking for a great green, well this is it! The only thing I did not care for was how streaky it applied. Unfortunately the sun was not present so I wasn't able to take very good pictures showing the gorgeousness of this nail polish!

Here is Lauries Untried
Zoya Dove with feathers
I must say that is breathtaking!! I really love this and want to try it!!

Mani Party!!

Today I have something a little different to show you. Recently I did my Mother-in-Law and two sister-in-law's nails. They had so much fun picking out their own colors and it was just a lot of fun for me to paint someone else's nails besides my own!

First up is my youngest sister-in-law Keihaulani, K-Lani for short. She wanted something Halloween themed so she went straight for Wet n Wild's tombstone nail polish! She also wanted to try my new Barry M purple crackle which is on her accent nail. On her thumbs I did a mini spider web.

Next up is my oldest sister-in-law Amber. She was going to dress up in 80's theme for Halloween so she wanted something to represent that. She picked out $OPI Slushied and

Lastly, my Mother-in-law Wilmet. She wanted something subtle yet girly. She has on OPI Rumples Wiggin' as the base, then its topped with Cult Nails Unicorn Pee. The thumb and ring finger has Barry M Purple Crackle with UP on top, its gorgeous!! Lastly all her nails have on China Glaze Ghoulish Glow.
Overall it was a great mani night at our house :) Hope you enjoyed!! Pin It

Illamasqua Viridian Layering Experiment

A few days ago I did a mani with Illamasqua Viridian, as gorgeous as it is, I couldn't leave it alone! There were so many things I had in mind to layer over this gorgeous color and I couldn't choose. So that is when I decided that I am going to do Layering Experiments.

My Layering Experiments will be about a mani that I had done, most likely a solid color, and then I will choose any where from 5-10 different colors to layer with.

Now onto the beauty!!
OPI MAAH, Clarins 230, The Color Workshop, Funky Fingers Blitzen, OPI Silver Shatter

OPI Black Shatter, OPI DS Shimmer, Funky Fingers Sand and Stilettos, The Color Workshop, Nubar 2010

thumb: silver shatter, index: blitzes, middle: TCW, ring: clarins 230, pinky: MAAH

thumb: black shatter, index: shimmer, middle: sand and stilettos, ring: TCW, pinky: 2010

I think that all of the combinations are a possible full mani for me. The Color Workshop colors did not have any names for them. Here are some up close shots of the bottles, these are very cheap and can be found in a set at local drugstores.

This one reminds me of CND effects.

This one is similar to Make Up Store Alma.

So what do you think? Would you like to see more of the Layering Experiments in the future?
Which combination is your favorite?
